Greystone Mansion Beverly Hills

Picture
The Greystone Mansion is a long time sanctuary that Californians go to enjoy breathtaking landscapes of well kept English gardens and other foliage , and stunning old world Tudor architecture. The home was was built by oil tycoon  Edward Doheny, where  his only son eventually lived in the 1930's.  Five months into living in the home, Ned Doheny was found shot dead inside the home. He was killed by his longtime friend Hugh Plunkett.  Neds wife Lucy stayed and  lived in the house till 1955.  Parts of the property were sold to various builders.  In 1956 Lucy and her second husband sold the remaining property along with the mansion to Henry Crown.  Henry Crown leased the property to be used as filming locations for various movie studios.  The house was bought from Henry Crown in 1965 by Beverly Hills, and in 1976 it was considered a Historic Landmark.

This beautiful estate is known for its  Gothic and neoclassic architectural styles.  The interior consists of hand carved wood oak banisters, balustrades and rafters. The floors of the grand hall showcased black and white inlaid marble and an elaborate living room held a balcony where musicians often performed on special occasions. The House has 55 rooms including a 2 floor living quarters for staff that accommodates 15 people.

This truly is a tranquil place that you can get lost in. The landscape is well maintained very clean. Around every bend there is always something new to see.  Every aspect of this place is high on "attention to detail". The property flows very well with the landscape and has a beautiful views of Downtown LA.

Its no wonder why this beautiful place is the home for weddings, social functions and fundraising events. It still is used for filming of Hollywood Films like The Big Lebowski, Spider Man 3, and There will be Blood starring Daniel Day lewis.
In my personal opinion nothing is more fitting to compliment this awesome place than having it host rare and exotic cars. This is a great enviroment for it and I had the pleasure of detailing one of the entrys along with a golden ticket to spend the day at this AWESOME car show.

Prepping of Porsche

Picture

I had the good fortune of being invited out to the show to detail this beautiful 1973 1/2 Porsche 911T.
On this particular model Porsche changed  to an electronic fuel injection a continues fuel injection from Bosch . This is a one owner 100k mile car that has never seen rain in its life.  The suspension and engine were recently re-conditioned.  What really makes this car stand out is its unique color. A gorgeous tangerine that really has a nice pop when in the sun.

From a detail standpoint I was a little concerned with this car being original single stage paint. In knowing this I took the proper precautions and thoroughly measured the paint to make sure I had enough paint to work with. After that I armed myself with the appropriate pad and polish to effectively correct the paint without being too aggressive.
Now above to the left is the tools of the trade. Armed with my polish, and two different polishers I was ready to get to work. Also had my brinkman light to inspect my work as I was doing this in the basement of the LUXE hotel in Beverly Hills. I must give props to the staff at this great facility as they were very accommodating to us. Everyone was very nice and respectful. They also came from time to time to see if I was thirsty for water. Really good people over there. So as you can see I was working out of our newer mobile unit. This truck is great for when I need to do work for my out of state clients. It has a smooth ride , and can really take on the miles. Also love the AC!! LOL
As you can see it was a little bit tight quarters to work in and made for a longer job then expected. But was well worth the effort!! Fortunately the paint was in pretty good shape it had a very light layer of marring from love marks. So it just needed a light polish. Just took my time on it and made sure it was show ready!!! This wont be the last time I will be working on this beauty. I will be in Carmel again in August to prep this gorgeous car at the Concorso event.  I will certainly be taking pictures and posting them on here when I get back from that event.  Below is a short slide show of the event enjoy!!

I would like to thank Bob Smith for trusting me to work on his beautiful car!! Without him this trip would not have been possible. I greatly appreciate his faith in my work and his enormous generosity. I had a great time at the event, and it was just a really special day. Thank you!!
